Handbook

The VEC Student Handbook is a summary of important policies, practices, dates, and people.  It is intended as a resource that parents, students, and staff can turn to with questions.  Students review this information with teachers at the beginning of the year at their level with discussion, role plays, and reading. 

This year, the handbook is in a OneNote Online Notebook.  It should open and show the topics on the left side.  Once selected, click the topic and the content show appear.  If you have any difficulties with referencing this handbook, please contact Email Handbook or (801)402-5975 and explain the problem you are having.  Thank you.

School-wide Expectations of Adult Behavior

Across the school, we want students to understand adult expected behavior.  This helps everyone to work together and succeed in our transition efforts.  This applies to classroom, cafeteria, offices, bus, community, and work sites. 

  1. Follow supervisor instructions the first time given.

  2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to self.

  3. Use positive talk and body talk. (Remember yellow and green circle talk and touch.)

  4. Be where you need to be, when you need to be there, with the materials you need.

  5. Other - Sometimes classes have another.

For some of our students, you may see or hear these more concrete rules used to help students.

  1. Listen to teachers.

  2. Keep hands, feet, mouth and objects to self.

  3. Use a quiet voice.

  4. Stay in my seat and do my work.

  5. Ask for things.

Circles Instruction for Appropriate Understanding of Talk, Trust, and Touch

To help students live safely, we instruct using the "Circles Curriculum."  This helps us to communicate in more concrete ways about what is expected in different situations, settings, and relationships.
