Welcome.  We are glad you will be working with us on your transition goals and plans in the coming year. 

What an end to the 2020 school year!  Thank you for your patience and perseverance during 4th Quarter this year at your high schools. We’ll look for ways to pick up the energy and enthusiasm this year.  I've said it before, but it is felt so much more - we are looking forward to working with students this coming year. 

We hope that everyone is staying healthy and well.  We know that there are many questions about how education and procedures will look here at VEC in the coming year.  Safety and health are our priority as we return to instruction.  Please know that we will be working according to the response levels and guidance that Davis School District and the Davis County Health Department give us.  We will have information coming to you as we approach the start of the year with information about how we will start and the adaptations we will all make.  

Due to COVID-19, we were unable to hold our annual VEC Parent & Student Orientation in May, to help you get acquainted with our school. This year, Jennifer Novoa, our Director, hosts this VEC Parent & Student Orientation PowerPoint to welcome you and introduce you to our school. Thank you, in advance, for completing these registration items to help us prepare. We will hold intake meetings (whether we're able in person or over video) for teachers to meet you, discuss your goals, and plan. Please anticipate a call in August to set-up that meeting.

VEC Registration Process

We have designed our forms entirely for digital completion and submission this year.  
All of the Step 1 and Step 2 Registration materials are linked below

  • Each item needs to be saved to your computer. 
  • When you open it on your computer, you can enter the information into the digital copy.  Complete the information and save it. 
  • When all of these are completed, please attach all items in an email to VECRegistration@dsdmail.net  and send them to us with your student name on the subject line. 
  • You will receive an email response letting you know what we have received your items and whether Step 1 requires anything else or is complete.  This may take a day or two.

We hope you are familiar with completing many of these items from high school.  These are important and help us to make this a safe, enjoyable, and productive school experience for you / your student. Some items will be new, so we include explanation.  If you have questions at any time, scroll down for information to contact us.

Important Starting Information to Avoid Frustration:

  • Registration must be fully completed prior to any student attending VEC. 

    • This enables our school team to organize and ensure proper supervision and support for each attending student. 
    • Completing registration includes immunizations* (or appropriate exemptions) and Step 2 Fees or Fee Waivers (starting July 12th) with required documentation.
      • *Immunizations that are started may require time between shots.  If the students has received the first in the series, then the student is permitted to attend.
  • Forms are PDF Fill-able with signatures for simplicity.  You can work with all forms digitally and then submit them.   
    • Please keep copies of each form for your records. 
    • Please email copies of completed forms to VECRegistration@dsdmail.net with an email title of "Registration for [Your Student's Name]," to help us track your completed items. 
  • VEC Transportation Forms must be received by July 27th to have Yellow Bus transportation starting school.
    • This gives DSD Transportation time to route the student on the bus.
      • After July 27th transportation focuses on driver bidding, training, and preparing.
      • Routing does not resume until the first week of school.
      • Routing takes 3-5 school days. 
      • Students submitting the VEC Transportation Forms after July 27th may require personal transportation the first week of school-wide instruction.   VERY IMPORTANT!
      • Buses will begin transporting students on Monday, August 31st.  
  • The first day of school-wide instruction for students will be Monday August 31st to permit teachers to hold individual intake appointments with students and parents.  
    • Intakes will be scheduled for August 17-28th.  These are important for anyone new to VEC.  They give you an opportunity to meet your teacher, talk about your goals, and organize for the year.
    • Those calling for intake meetings will discuss preferred options - whether in-person or over video.
  • Any student whose registration is received after August 3rd will be assessed a late fee

Emphasized deadlines help avoid delays for you / your student.

Reminders

  • VEC Transportation Forms received after July 27th will lead to delays in yellow school bus transportation for you / your student.
  • Late registration can continue to be submitted after Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, but will require a late fee

We will be closed July 3, 23-24 for those holidays.
